3 Action Tips to Grow and Build Your Business

Business team planning a marketing strategy for growth and success

When we think about a business, we often think about brick-and-mortar ones or our careers.  Today, I invite you to think outside of the box. Whether you’re a mom, dad, wife, husband, or child, you are a business owner. You are the business owner of your life.

If you follow very successful business people, you will likely see a common trait emerge: they run their lives like they do their businesses. They create a roadmap or some sort of strategic development plan for different areas of their life, and they execute according to the plan.

If you think about it, successful business owners want to run their businesses as efficiently as possible to maximize their investment return.  Why would they not want the same for their personal lives?

We all have goals and dreams for our lives, and when we treat our life like a business, it becomes easier to reach our goals and dreams.

For a child, their business is managing their education, chores, extracurricular activities, etc.  Husbands and wives should have a plan in their relationship, and while love and the emotional sides are critical, some aspects, such as financial planning and large purchases, are best treated as a business.

In relationships, as in business, there needs to be a strategy for it to be strong and successful.   With moms and dads as well, there should be a well-thought-out plan for how you will fulfill the requirements that come with having children.  Every person’s situation is different, just like in business.  It’s not a “one size fits all” for everyone or every business.

3 Tips To Grow and Build Your Business

Let’s jump into some simple tools you can use to grow and build your business, whether it’s your life business or your income-producing business.  These practical tips work no matter what the situation is.

1. Study Your Craft

Your craft can be your business, a hobby, a sport, etc.  By studying your craft, you not only make yourself more marketable by widening your areas of expertise, but you also become more proficient at what you are already doing.  So, as you can see, studying is crucial because it will help you feel more confident and emerge as an expert.  Over time, it’s easy to figure out who has put in the work of studying their craft.

2. Decide and Plan What You Want To Do

Once you know what you want to do, you can make a plan to make it happen. Setting target completion dates can also help you prioritize and improve focus. The more specific you are about your goals, the better your chances of making your dreams come true.

In addition to planning and prioritizing, there are words that you say to yourself to help keep you focused on forward progress. For example, “Burn the Ships” is one. “Burn the Ships” refers to being fully committed by removing any way back to previous ways of doing something that was perhaps comfortable but didn’t produce results.

3. Surround Yourself With People That Are Going to Uplift You and Make You Better

Your vibe is your tribe, and you want to keep strong and dedicated people around you. So we set goals and work towards achieving them, but it’s natural that things hold us back from time to time and prevent us from achieving ultimate success. That is why it is important to surround yourself with people who motivate and inspire you to be the best version of yourself.

Your tribe will help you to work through conflicts and other issues that may arise.  With that said, remember to also pour into the others in your tribe the way they pour into you.  That is what keeps the circle strong.

Action Steps To Help You Grow Your Business

Now that you have a few ideas of how to grow your business, I’m going to give you action steps directly related to each tip given.

Tip 1: Study Your Craft – Action Step

There are many ways in which you can study your craft that won’t cost you any extra money. You can study without added expenses using any of the following:

  • Youtube videos
  • Books
  • Seminars
  • Social media apps such as Clubhouse
  • Masterclasses
  • Events
  • And certifications

Reach out to people you admire who are already doing what you want to do. Sometimes, all you need to do is ask, and they will share knowledge to help you along your journey.

Tip 2: Plan What You Want To Do – Action Step

Vision Boards…Vision Boards…Vision Boards. I can’t say it enough.  What gets planned gets done. Creating a vision board will help you plan what you want and how to achieve it. They are quite literally a visual reminder of what your intentions are.  If you are not clear about what you want, it’s very difficult to stay focused, and your thoughts and actions tend to end up being scattered. I have a free vision board ebook which I will be happy to share with you if you DM me on Instagram at @iamstarztina or email me at starztina@elitestarzfitness.com.

Tip 3: Your Vibe Is Your Tribe – Action Step

So, we know that we tend to draw people with similar energies into our lives. Like attracts like. So you must first get comfortable with knowing who you are before knowing what types of people you are looking for.  Once you do, figure out what you are looking for in people you invite into your tribe.  You may actually have different tribes for different areas of your life.  So, what should you do next?

Step outside your comfort zone and meet people who are like-minded but will challenge you and cause you to grow.  Attend public events that interest you.  Eventbrite is a great resource for finding free and low-cost events where you will likely find people with similar interests.  Volunteer work is another way of meeting like-minded people.  Online platforms such as Instagram, Clubhouse, Facebook, and LinkedIn are also ways to form meaningful relationships with people all over the world.

It is my hope that you take these tips and action steps and make a positive impact not only on your own life but on those around you.
