Free Yourself From Distractions and Massively Increase Productivity

black woman at desk - how to get rid of distractions

As a small business owner or entrepreneur, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to get everything done in a day. However, trying to tackle too many tasks can lead to stress, burnout, and ultimately less productivity.

That was my reality for a long time until I realized that I needed to free myself from distractions. In this blog post, I’m going to share how I transformed my workday by prioritizing my to-do list and eliminating unnecessary tasks.

Prioritize

The first step in freeing myself from distractions was to prioritize my to-do list. I started by identifying the most important tasks that had to get done that day, and making sure I tackled them first. I found that by focusing on the most important tasks, I was able to get more done and feel less overwhelmed.

This step is SO important. What’s important to you? What do you REALLY want to do and accomplish? Prioritize and focus on these.

Eliminate What’s UnNecessary

Additionally, I started to eliminate unnecessary tasks from my to-do list. I realized that many of the things I was doing were not actually helping me move forward with my business. Instead, they were just distractions that were taking up valuable time and energy.

Your Priority System

To help me stay focused on my priorities, I started to use a productivity system. For me, I think about what are the 2 or 3 things that I need to do, today, that are important to my 1 or 2 priorities.

I love the Pomodoro Technique, which involves working on a task for a set amount of time (usually 25 minutes), taking a short break, and then starting again. This system helped me break down my workday into manageable chunks and stay focused on my priorities.

Set Boundaries

Another way you can free yourself from distractions is by setting boundaries. Turn off notifications for social media and email, and only check them at specific times during the day. This will allow you to be present in the moment and focus on the task at hand, without getting sidetracked by notifications and distractions.

By prioritizing my to-do list, eliminating unnecessary tasks, using a productivity system, setting boundaries, and practicing self-care, I was able to free myself from distractions and increase my productivity. As a small business owner or entrepreneur, it’s easy to get distracted by the many tasks that need to be done. However, by focusing on what’s truly important and taking care of yourself, you can be more productive and achieve your goals faster.
